Each lesson takes at most 1 hour. Do a little each day and be ready for the holidays!
This is so much fun!
Because this challenge is going to take up A LOT of my time… shooting video, editing, customer support, etc… the next set of episodes will be the 21 day challenge. I might be able to get a full episode of How To Sew With Jenny T. in here, but for the most part, I’ve decided to run the sewing challenge on this “channel”. I hope you enjoy it!

Fabric Scissors - Jenny T. Recommends
Posted on: June 17, 2009No comments yet
In Sewing Tip #1, I recommend that you should have one really nice pair of fabric scissors… that you use for nothing but cutting fabric. Fabric shears range greatly in price, so it comes down to quality and what you prefer. I always lean towards hand friendly scissors. Meaning, the ones that give my joints relief are the ones I want. You’ll notice that a couple of the scissors that I list here have springs to help give your hand a break from fatigue.
Here’s a list of fabric shears that I recommend.
Clauss 8” Hot-Forged Dress Maker Scissors
Price: $28.29 |
Hot-forged from cutlery-grade carbon steel then double-plated and through-hardened these chrome scissors can withstand repeated sharpening to provide years of reliable use. The extremely sharp blades provide smoothe r cutting action making these shears easier to use. |
Fiskars Razor Edged Scissors 8″ Price: $14.81 |
The razor-sharp edges of these blades will cut through multiple layers of fabric with ease. Ideal for corduroy denim and other tough synthetics. Quilters will love these too. 8″. |
Gingher Spring Action Scissors 8″
Price: $44.99 |
Ease and effort of cut are the most sought after attributes of enthusiast sewers and quilters. Gingher’s new spring action scissors reduce fatique and makes cutting easier. Locking latch mechanism eliminates the need for a sheath. Includes a collectable tin to store these beautiful shears. |
Fiskars Bent RazorEdged Scissors 8”- Price: $14.81 |
FISKARS-Contoured Softgrip handle for comfort cutting. Robust handle with thick RazorEdged blades for improved balance and clean precise cuts. Metal joint for smoother cutting action. |
